Some production records of valve accessories

2026-01-30

When receiving inquiries or drawings related to valves in daily work, the first reaction of most people is to check the pressure rating, diameter and standard. However, when it comes to the actual production, most problems arise from the valve accessories rather than the valve structure itself.

1

In actual production, the problems frequently reported from the site are not design errors but are related to specific industrial valve components. The most common ones are parts like the valve body, valve stem, valve seat, and valve ball, which require repeated processing and assembly.

2

Take the valve body as an example. After processing, carbon steel and stainless steel do not look much different, but the differences will gradually emerge after a period of use. The precision of the thread, the flatness of the sealing surface, and the processing state of the valve cover area will all have an impact on the later operation. These contents may not be described in detail on the drawings, but they are easily magnified in actual use.

3

Problems with the valve stem are also often overlooked. Some valve stems are of qualified dimensions, but if the surface roughness is not well controlled, leakage at the packing area is likely to occur under frequent opening and closing conditions. Such issues may not be immediately detectable during the assembly stage and usually manifest only after the valve has been in operation for some time.

In terms of materials, A105, LF2, CF8M, and 316L are all common in industrial valve components. However, some projects may have additional requirements for EN 10204 3.1 material certificates or compliance with NACE standards. In such cases, the management of materials is not just about issuing a document, but rather runs through the entire production process.

In terms of manufacturing methods, forged valve components are generally used in high-pressure grade working conditions, mainly due to the stability of their organizational structure and strength. Castings are still used in many projects. As long as the process control is in place, they can also meet the requirements.

The consistency of CNC machining is particularly important in OEM projects. If there are deviations in the threads, sealing surfaces and mating dimensions of different batches, problems will occur during assembly. For OEM valve accessories, whether they can be directly assembled and used is often more important than appearance.

From a production perspective, the greatest advantage of collaborating with a stable valve component manufacturer is the reduction of repeated modifications. Clear communication of the drawings and technical points in the early stage is often much less troublesome than rework later on.

These details may not be noticeable on the appearance of the finished valve, but once the valve is installed and put into operation, the quality of the valve accessories will soon be reflected.
